Hey Brian, glad to see you found one! As stated by everyone else if you need any help just ask. And I have something that will fit right in your budget. My 272 came with the original bimini top and an after market one. So.....you can have my old one for free. Not sure where you live as Im in southern Kentucky but have family in Chicago/NW Indiana and come up that why all the time. If you live anywhere close I could just throw it in the truck and meet you....just let me know. Good luck with the project......Brad

More Funner now....
Project just got "funner". Mechanic is doing the compression check today. Port engine looks like a 6 cylinder. 6 good at 115 to 125 psi. The other two were bad at 60 and mid 80's, no change on wet test so it could be a bad valve or crude stuck under the valves, but with 700 hours on the small blocks, seems like it is time to pull them and expand this project.....
So, we are going to put the bore scope in it and see what the cylinder walls look like and get ready to pull them out. Will also give me the chance to climb around the engine compartment easily and clean it also. Hull should be tip top by the time the motors are ready to go back in.
So we will look at the condition and see if we can get away with new rings and bearings. Make sure the bottom end is tight.
Now to start the research on what to do to the 350 mags in this thing that will not destroy them or the Apha's, but still give some more MPH. Mechanic is on staff right now, so I am only looking at parts and machine shop work.

starboard is worse. 130, 128, 105, 100 90, 72, and 68 on the wet test.
port had 3 under 100: 135, 126, 125, 120, 105, 89, 85, 60.
Definately need to come out.... Let the fun start.

Welcome to the wonderfull world of offshore were you spec the scope of work and double the cost and then go to the next unit of measure. So if you think it will cost you 2 hundred, double that 400 next unit of measure thousands, so it will cost you 4 grand. It is quite accurate. Goes for time estimates as well.

I also look at that big bang theory thread and the 5.3's that are pulled out of a truck, hmmm....
Oh well, the "low budget build" lasted about a week I guess. I am not going to pull the motors and put them back in for a 59mph boat, that is for sure!
