I showed pics of mine to Grant Porter of Formula at the Miami show a few weeks ago. His first word was WOW!!
He got into a conversation about the 255 and the fact that it was their top of the line go fast back in the day. He had just gotten out of school and his Dad pushed him into the business. I asked him about the development of the boat and he said John Adams their designer took styling ques from the old Cigarette 28 SS. Most of the 255 Liberators came down with twin 260 Mercruisers and he remembered Miami built "several" with twin 330/454's on TRS drives....75 MPH boats. I asked him about hearing of a few with twin 420 horse/TRS shipping out with holes in the transom for the install and the Motor/Drives drop shipped to the dealers in crates direct from Mercury. He smiled and looked at the floor...looked back at me and said with a grin "You heard about that?"..."Those were a LOT of fun".
