Just found this thread and had to read through it. Thought I would contribuit: 1980 233 interceptor 454mag/bravo 1. Still working on fixing it up, but have came a long ways since I bought it. The engine bay and cockpit are done. Still have a lot of work to do in the cuddy and details. Stopped working on it everynight so I could do some boating this summer...already too short in MI.

That is a sweet Interceptor!! Big Block Power and a Bravo Drive...Very Nice Indeed!! I came across a 233 Sportsman on Craigslist here in SE Florida not long ago with a 465 Horse 502 with a Bravo I and a 4: Blade Rev 4 prop. Seller claimed 75 top end and hour upon hour 65 MPH cruise. It sold in about a week before I could get a look.

Just put new Strings and bulkheads. Glassed the forward bulkhead to the deck and side. Much stronger now.

Great stuff man...stay after it. Once you get it to a point you feel comfortable with it...some of us "Flat Glass" owners from both coasts should plan to rendezvous at the annual Havasu Desert Storm event. That would make a great showing of a "Flock of old 'Birds!!"

Our long time OSO Formula contributor Machloosy brings this most recent find home to this thread. He was out boating and spotted this beauty near his home in New York state.

This "Bird Heads" may be the rarest and most unique "Flat Glass" Formula we have seen.

This is a 1983 242 SR-1 with a Factory installed Silent Thunder Fiberglass platform. Seems that there was a warranty replacement hull switched in by Thunderbird Formula in 1989 which explains the Fiberglass platform. The original 242 '83 vintage inner liner and deck cap were removed from the original hull and placed on top of the 1989 replacement hull. Since '89 hulls incorporated the Fiberglass swim platform...that's what this boat now has...but wait...there's more!!!

See anything "odd"? How about twin Bravo III drives hanging out of the transom of a '83 242 SR-1!!! Seems that a pair of stout 383 stroker motors found there way into this rig and the owner realizing that the Alpha I's were not up to the task decided to do the whole enchilada with Bravo III Drives to complete the package. Good thinking!! I wonder how many 242 SR-1's are running around with Bravo III drives hanging out of the rear ? Hmm,,,,probably ONE!!

This my friends is a Very Special and Rare Flat Glass Formula...one of the most unique I have ever seen.

The owners name is "Tom'' and if Machloosy sees him again he will get more information. If anyone else knows this boat please tell the owner to join our ranks... we want to know more!!!

I may be a younger guy, but I can't get over how cool the flat glass birds are. Cyrus, keep rocking on that 302. And the 242 SR1 above was a pretty cool find for a lake that's only 22mi long in Upstate NY. Owner claims the top speed is only 68.4 Due to the Bravo 3's not liking trim. Apparently trimming them up makes water pressure drop and therefore threatens cooling. So if you are thinking of swapping to them for their midrange... DON'T! Unless you have a cruiser and the drives are buried. Non the less, very cool story on her. I bet no one her has seen McLeod Bolsters factory finished in brown!!!

Any pics of the work you did to the forward bulkheads? I'm interested in this as I hate how they just sit in there loose....
