Default 89 Mcleod Bolster question...

I really like the hydraulic bolsters that you find in the 87-91 formulas. The problem I have is that I don't think they drop far enough, or maybe it's just mine that are like that. The bottom is at a slight angle so that I'm always having to lean into the seat. I'd like to be able to just stand in the bolster, but the front of the seat bottom hits me right in the calves. Do they all work like that, and has anyone done anything to get them to drop fully??

Hey Bill,

1989 272
I have noticed the same thing. Around the harbor I would like the bolster to drop like you want to be able to stand stright up and have more room behind the wheel. But at speed it never bothers me, I seem to put my feet forward to bring my body down farther into the bolster for more support.

Bill, MY 89 272 is the same way. At speed I too put my feet as far forward as possible and rest my back in the bolster. At 6' in height I can just peer over the windshield and only mess up my hair (no wind in the face). Standing erect and turning the wheel is always good for a cheap thrill . But that's the way it be

if you look under the seat. the cylinder is screwed to a wood cushion frame I think,

I suppose you could revise the attachment geometry to get it to drop farther by moving the cushion attachment point down
( toward the edge of the cushion) but check that the cylinder will allow it to go back up to the full horizontal position still. It may require both attachments to be moved. do some calculatin' with full extended and full retracted lengths of the cylinder, then make a little jig to simulate those two lengths, and find the two (or maybe one) new attachment points.
