Let them idle for ~ 10 minutes. Oil pressures and temperatures fine.
Headed out again, only got a couple hundred meters and there was a bad knocking sound in the starboard engine.
Shut it down and went home on the port engine.
So ........... not sure what the forward plan of attack should be from here.
Frustrating really.
Sounds like water got into it. Did you do a leakdown before putting them in? Do one now.

I am working on a solution for the drive by wire setup now...just trying to see what will be easiest for a blower as there isn't a ton of room in the engine compartment. The 565 is the ticket over the 525....bigger motor, bigger valve, more power. The drive by wire...I'll never go back to cable.

In the meantime, what props do you have and what is your RPM at 82mph? My boat with 540s was setup with 29p Maximus and I only achieve 4950rpm. I don't have enough motor to turn them. I see 80 easily, 82 is my best. I just bought some different props and as soon as our water is liquid again I'm going to test and I'll pass that info to you to see if I get more RPM and speed. I'm betting you have the same props I do.

I miss those days

I saw a 382 with vortech blower and Arnesons on one of the FB groups last week. Guy said he hit 102 and felt he had more.

Bumping this up. I saw on Facebook another 353 running 106. Pretty cool.

My boat keeps getting faster and fasterwith age....still slow but I hit 87.1 this week with stock 540s. Maybe this winter some more power.

That's impressive. Any idea what engines/hp that boat has?
