The 330 made 470 lbs ft. in Merc trim. The Crusader version with its better exhaust made 510 lbs ft. This is all under 4k rpm and flat as a board in delivery. I don’t see a 383 making that kind of torque without some serious parts and spinning it harder. Change the intake and carburetor and add better exhaust, and the 330 will make even more.

I’ve had a 242. 454 mag and a 700 hp blower setup so I know the boat really well. Not a fan of any small blocks in the 242 unless they’re twins.

But that’s my opinion.
