How hard are the gps speedos to install?

Now that I look at this, I am thinking about removing the Richie compass (save for resale), having a white powdercoated plug made and then mounting the 176C (hard wire) in place of the compass. Can anyone think of a downside in doing it this way? This would avoid drilling more holes in the dash and the 176C has a compass feature. What are your thoughts?
