How to remove / replace radio in 280ss with a Sirius
I have a 1999 Formula 280SS SunSport and I want to put a Sirius radio in place of the factory Kenwood. On this boat the radio is located in the cabin, in a fiberglass panel directly above the cabin closet and next to the cabin light switches, on the port side of the companionway. The only problem is the boat is so tightly assembled that I can't figure out how to take this fiberglass panel off to get access to the radio compartment.
Does anyone know how to remove this panel? Is there another way to access this compartment? Any suggestions for installing a Sirius in a Formula? I think I will need the whole panel down so that I will have room to route the Sirius antenna cable.
Can anyone offer suggestions, especially on where and how to mount the satellite radio antenna? I prefer not to clutter up the bow, so I was considering NOT using a marine sirius antenna and instead using the low-profile car antenna and attaching it onto the airhorn. Comments?
Thanks
