93 271 Windsield HELP! and a question
I recently bought a new to me 1993 271. I was trailering it, somehow the port windshield broke, it was a big mess. Any how, formula no long supplies the glass, Taylor bought out the OEM of the windshield, they dont supply it any more. Taylor said just have it made local. I called some glass, guy in Florida and he wanted $4000 for a windshield!!! I am hoping that you guys have some insite on a better way to go with this.
Next question, I have a 502 Mag (carb) with a bravo one. I bought the boat with no prop. The dealer said a 23 Mirage is what it needs. I borrowed one and I can tach out at 5200, I am thinking 25". What about the four blades?
I am not new to boating, I just been a way for a while, Mirages were new when I stopped, a cleaver would have been on this boat!! What kind of speed are you guys getting with this setup, Id be happy at 55, but it seems a bit quicker. I will get a GPS over the winter.

Tom,
Welcome to the board and especially to the Formula owner's section. You will find many people here who have a lot of knowledge. Sounds like a 24 pitch Bravo 1 prop might be your ticket, but others with more experience with this hull can probably be more helpful.
Both this and the windshield problem have been discussed in previous threads. Just do a search on "windshield" and you will find others with the same situation.
I bought a used Taylor Made windshield for my 382 from another OSO member in California. Couldn't be happier with the price and result ... these are very expensive to replace!

Since it is already broken you might consider making a race fairing. There is a thread here in the Formula section about making a fairing out of the windshield frame.
