I'm lookin at a 1998 353 fastec, stepped hull with 500hp's...what kind of speed should she run ? how is this boat in snotty water ? i run in the barnegat bay a constant 2-3 ft chop, and spend maybe 20% of my time in the Atalntic Ocean between Manasquan and Atlantic City. Any pro's n cons would be appreciated. Thanks Bernie

From what I've read here you should be in great shape with that hull.
I used to live in Toms River and in Beachwood. I know how Barnegat Bay can get whipped up. I know too well what the sea conditions can be from New York to Ocean City (N.J.). I've been out in 13 foot seas.
Even the Point Pleasent Canal can scare the pants off most people. Or has it gotten better than I remember?
Top speed? Maybe upper 70's to low 80's???
I know somebody here will correct me.

Bern, I have an 03 353 and It is great in that part of the bay smooth ride. It is also for sale I am on LBI. You will appreciate the length over your 29. We race a 26 corsa with OPA and that water up in Pt.Pleasant can get ugly. And yes the Canal can still scare the chit out of you!
