I posted this in the General area, but maybe some of you Fountain fans have a thougth on it?
I'm putting a few toys on my 42 Lightning and I want to set her up with a nice GPS.
The removable panel Fountain gives is so skinny (vertically) that I don't think I can find a screen small enough to fit. I hesitate to put in a bracket mount with the concern that it will try to bounce all over the place in rough water.... although the built in antenna would be a big plus.
Do you guys use bracket mounts?
Thanks for the input.

I use the bracket mount and have for years. Long enough to to say I also bracket mounted my Loran.
I just bought a new color chartplotter and love it. The Navman with the rebate is an excellent deal.

This seems like a good deal, $335 for color.

I got the 6600 model with Smartcraft so I can use the fuel flow meter.
The base map lacks a little detail though.

I used duel Garmins. They are tucked out of way, but still give me and my navigator all the information for navigation. Antennas are mounted under the dash. They have no problem getting a signal.

Re: GPS Recommendation?
I am using a Garmin GPS 182C bracket mount with builtin antenna.. I have been in harsh offshore conditions without breaking it loose. One of my suppliers is a distributor , Last year I paid $675.00 I think they list for about $900....+ about $100 for your local area blue chart....

Garmin equipment sucks. If you have a fountain put good northstar equipment. if you have a bayliner you use cheap garmin equipment. You get what you pay for ...
