Here's how I was taught....you want to keep your eye on the bow, when you see it dip, or fall to the left or right, bump the steering the opposite direction just a bit and then make sure you straighten the wheel. You want to make small corrections or bumps. If you turn the wheel too much you will make things worse. So basically you bump left, straight, bump right, straight...ect, balancing the boat. There is feel involved so make sure you're arms are relaxed, don't stifffen up. It is small corrections...not large ones. It takes practice to get it right and to feel the boat fallen off the pad.
To start, once you feel, see the bow start to fall left and right bump a couple of times first just to the left until the boat feels its not falling to the right...from there just watch the bow, make small bumps until you get the hand of it.
I don't see any reason why you can't drive out of this condition, unless you don't have hydraulic steering.
Results are in -- Ran the entire Pirates Run, and the radar run, with NO Chine Walk -- and believe me, it would have before i learned a few trick off this thread -- i never used tabs either -- left them in the neutral position at 2-1/2

-- it is exactly what you said Chase 910, there is a feel involved and knowing when to react to prevent the big one. Thanks too WCMarine - i learned a lot here --

P.S. -- took her out yesterday with a nice North wind and some 12" chop and hit 87.4 on GPS

That's a stock 575SCi with only a 3/8" smaller blower pulley and a water injection kit that i fitted under the throttle bodies.

Congrats!!!
Just like if you can drive a stick you can drive any auto
you'll be able to drive any boat, once you can master a pad bottom boat.

87.4...wow, that's cookin in a single 29 with that power!
