Default 29 w/ Twin BB's?

I read the other thread about the 29 Fountain, but wanted to get more specific about the handling and performance difference on the 29 Fountain with a PAIR of HP500's. I have a friend that is looking at a 1996 with this package. I feel the 29 Fountain is too short for twin BB's. I see from the other thread some of you agree. I am looking for anyone who has seen or driven this package and your impressions. The friend is also looking at a 1998 32 with T 502efi's for about the same money. The 32 seems like the deal to me but the 29 is in the area and the 32 is much further away.
Looking for thoughts and input that I can forward to the friend.
Thanks,
Gordo

Both are nice boats, but I'd go for the 32 without a doubt.

I Have A 99 32 With 2/502 W/livorsi Prochargers. Purchased The Boat W/stock 502 And Then Added The Chargers. The Boat Actually Runs Better With More Horsepower Approx 620 Hp Per Motor.

Stock Power 74 Mph Boat Would Get A Little Uneasy Do To Having To Trim The Boat More.

Current Power 89 Mph Boat Will Get Very Uneasy At Higher Trim But Will Run 75 Mph @4200 Rpm With Little Trim.

My Opinion Is More Hull Is Better

29 And 32 Is Very Similar In Hull But The 3 Foot Difference Makes A Difference.

If I Had To Do It All Over 35 Would Be My Choice.

I have a friend who is selling a 1999 32' Fountain w/ 500hp's w/ approx. 150 hours. MINT condition on a matching Eagle trailer. His boat can be had for 80K and he might even be a little negotiable. I can vouch that the boat has zero disappointments. PM me if you would like more info. The boat is in TN and if you are looking for a 32' Fountain he is the cheapest around with the right power. He just has too many boats and is the reason for selling.

I had a 1989 29 with twin 454/425s, the boat ran just fine, 82mph, the only issue was how low the boat sat in the rear end, when coming off plane if you really chopped the throttles the wake would wash up on the sun deck, other than that, great boat

But, I'm thinking yours was a true 29, (flat transom) so isn't there quite a difference between a 1996 step bottom 29 Fountain and your 1989?
Thanks for all the input gang. Keep em coming.

Mine was 29' with the molded fiberglass swim platform, not the like the original 29 and 33 with square back ends

pull my trigger is correct. Mine is a flat transom 29 but is actually called an 8.8 meter. If you park an 8.8 next to a 32 and get the beaks even the 8.8's transom is level with the 32's. The 29's with the integral swim platform are about 3 feet shorter than mine.

This boat now has a pair of stroked 454's to make them 496's. Both dyno'd at 625bhp, I now run Konrads which are shorter than the TRS' and am getting 91gps. The motors are still fresh, the trany's are fresh, and the drives are new. When everything loosens up I can put some more timing into it, ramp up the RPM's, and spin some 30's or 31's, I should see a little more speed.
