I have also measured the steps in relation to the distance to the transom and found thay my have been moving the steps in that way also. Had a 1995 -35 lightning with completely stock 502 mpi's that ran 80 mph on radar in the Lake Ozark Shootout (1999) and in the same year there was 3 other 35's with single large steps all ran a best of 77 mph on radar and one 35 in the class above me with a single large step and hp-500's that ran a best of 79 mph and won his class .What I do know is that for the buck Fountain is the fastest best riding and handling V I have been in or owned!
