Re: Got Ilmors - Look at what's going to Power my 38
The dyno sheets say these are about 100 hp per side stronger than my 525's, and they about 300 lbs per side lighter than my 525's. So with a 200 hp-ish increase and a 600 lbs in weight savings, I'm hoping for 5 to 7 mph - after I play with props. My current 32's are non-labbed. Midrange is suppose to be killer on these Vipers.
What really sold me was the policy of Ilmor that lets their customers send their engines back to the factory for the latest greatest updates, and I expect that within a year or so they will have a 700 hp-ish product on the market.

Yea, the 525's were installed in the boat last July. This is a crazy hobby.
I just happened to run across a great deal on these Ilmors and couldn't pass up the opportunity to have V-10's. They were originally 550's and were installed in a big cat with 6's. When Ilmor came out with the 625's they were shipped back and converted into 625's. The new cat they were in was still underpowerd and it sat forever. The dealer finally gave up on selling it with mild power and yanked them and sent them back to Ilmor.
They have the internals of 625, but are purple and look like the older style Ilmors on the outside so they really willing to discount them to get them in a boat.

As soon as I get a firm date for the install I am going to have them taken out of my boat and sell them.
