Help!!!!! Boat Wont Plane!!!!!!!!!
I have a 1998 fountain fever 29', with twin big blocks low hours. Motors and boat are still in great shape. I just replaced the dash with new livorsi gauges and while doing so had to take off controls. Re-installled everything seems to be working properly. When the boat is on and in neutral throttle response seems fine. As soon as you put the boat into forward and try to accelerate and get on plane boat bogs. With the throttles wide open both motors only reach 2000 rpm. Again, the boat wont plane. And when you put them in neutral motors seem fine and responsive. Could it be a problem with the control cables? Is it possible the throttle cables are in wrong?

Re: Help!!!!! Boat Wont Plane!!!!!!!!!
could really be any number of things from a short at hte gauges to a bad ground somewhere
a Good tech works from the prosess of elimination so what you have to do is start eliminating what it isnt,
Its real hard to diagnos something like this long distance
figure out what you played with and then compare that to what would cause what is happening
if you need a starting point let me know

Re: Help!!!!! Boat Wont Plane!!!!!!!!!
Yeah i think i may start with the throttle cables im thinking i may have hooked them up wrong. Im going to try and hook the cable up in the farthest back pin hole. I checked the throttle back at the motors and there seemed to be some play left in the throttle while the controls were at WOT. Also, do you think this could be a prop problem? Also, all the gauges seem to be working properly so im thinking it isn't anything to do with them.
Any other ideas to start with? Do you know exactly how these throttle cables are suppose to be installed?
Thanks i appreciate any help at all

A bad ground might cause this? Where should i start looking if that may be the case. It looked as if all the ground wires spilt off from one main wire

Pull your breathers off and put the throttles at full.{engines OFF}.Look in carbs & see if they are opening all the way....Start with the easiest first..

Is it possible that you have one drive cable in forward and one in reverse, One cable goes on top and one on the bottom of the assembly ?????????. and or check fuel pressure.
