35' Lightning w/ 2 x 900HP
My friend has a 01' Lightning that he is repowering with 900 HP 540 CI motors. Will he have to go with 5 or 6 blade props? He has been running 4 blade props with the previous 500EFI's with prochargers. Any suggestions from previous experiences would definitely help!

Leon repowered a 35 at lake Tekoma[where I bought my 35 at] and it has 850's running xr's with 6 blade props, it runs over 110 mph, see www.dallasboats4sale.com click fountain tab on lt side. what drives are you using on the 01?

The boat has XR's on it. He is going to buy a spare drive to keep with him. If it is to bad on breaking drives then he was thinking of the B-MAX HT's. So that one with 750's is running 110+ they say, think we should be around 120 with the 900's? I think we are going to try and run 5 blade Hydros or those new props from Throttle-up.

Its my boat ........Unfortunately, I'm pretty damn broke from these motors at this point. I would love to have #6's but dont ever see affording them. I am definitely thinking about the BMAX HT's but they may have to wait until next winter. I guess I will find out how long they will last soon enough. I will be very careful with the acceleration and when coming out of the water.

Just run some bigger 4 blades but don't over prop it...Your drives should make it through a season.
Oh Yeah, Don't hold the sticks forward for too long of a time per speed run.

I will post some pics of the engines and boat tonight. I was thinking of sticking with 4 blade props because I figured they wouldnt load the drive as much. But then I heard that with this much HP & TQ that it would blow out the props unless I went with 5 or 6 blade. They made 876 FT LBS of torque.
