Our 2000 35' with carb 500's ran best with non labbed 28" Hydro's. Boat had 26's when we test drove it and it spun the hell out of them (5400 if I remember right). Dealer replaced with 27's, top speed was 80.? on GPS. Tried a buddy's 28's and picked up several mph cruising speed and top end stayed about the same.

Props
I just sold my 98 35 single step lightning. It came with stock 26s and I concur with Jmeng. 26s are not nearly enough prop. I was running stock 502 mags with 27s at saw 78 mph. With 500 hps you should turn 27s or labbed 28s.

I never ran the boat with 28's, just going by what my dad said and I doubt he really tried to get every last mph out of it. I know he was only revving the 28's around 4900 or 5000 so he might have been down a hair on top end. JJ at Pier 57 recomended that we buy the 28's and have them labbed to get back up to 5200. 27's were a good all around prop, I just liked the idea of of a faster cruise speed with the 28's. We sold the boat before I really got a chance to experiment with the larger props...

Steve,
The props I sent you are good candidates for labbing, but I suggest running them first to see what you got. They were awfully fast on my boat... and ours appear to be from same year so hopefully the same x dimension.
I sent you a PM with the shipping info. Best of luck with the carbs.
