Default 27 fuel guage ? Accurate or not accurate. How much does the tank hold?

Just wondering If anyone with a 92 and up 27 has had their tank dry. How accurate is the guage. I ran for a few hours and it still read 1/2 tank. Is that accurate or am I lower on fuel than I think. I think she holds 58 gallons ..Not sure though. Any help would be great. Chad

When it gets to a quarter tank you better be at the gas dock.

I believe the tank holds 60 gallons. It will show full for a long time then when it starts to move it goes fast.

Mine reads full all day then drops to half and at that time I'm headed to the gas dock. When it hits 1/4 I had better be on my way or start looking for a tow rope.

When I fill from a quarter tank I get right around 50 gallons so in a 60 gallon tank I would say there is not much usable fuel left

So I guess sitting just Above 1/2 tank would be the optimal time for my high speed kilo run. I think I'm going to the high speed section of lake elsinore Sunday to air it out and get the optimun speed. Maybe try to get it closer to 1 /4 tank first. I will have a 250 lb co pilot to read my tom tom gps to see the actual speed. My speedo reads about 60 at WOT. I just squirted 5 bucks or so in my port saddle tank so If I run out, I might be able to get back to shore.

I will let you'al Know the result..I'm gonna try to run her main tank dry..
Thanks for all the helps.

My '94 27' had a 63 gal tank.

Could run all day from full to 1/2, then it moved fast to 1/4.
At a 1/4, I better have the gas dock in sight, because it'll be empty once I reach it. As mentioned earlier. A common condition. YOu'll figure that out after your 1st runing outta gas.

The tanks are wedge shaped and the sender works on fuel level, not amount of fuel left.

spent the weekend out on the big bay for the air races...Might go out this weekend if the sun starts to shine. There is a all white 27 or 29 in dry storage...thought it might be yours.
Cheers

All the Fountain tanks are exactly like the 27's. My 47 runs all day if I fill it above 1/2 but fast down below 1/2 to empty.
