Default 575SCI issues?

I would like to here some input on the 575sci, I just bought a 2002 29 with one in it. And I hear a lot good and some bad (like the head gaskets).
It had been rebuilt by valley motor sports in Eagan MN for the above reason with about 220 HRs on it (now has 243)
I have the receipts on what was done. I what to Know what should have been done to remedy the issue if there is one.
Also what else?

i servie more than a half dozen of them, a couple turned up to about 700 hp, and they do last especially with intercoolers. most of the issues i have become aware of are due to temperture issues , fuel management mis-diagnosis and lak of maintanance.

Hopefully they used Felpro or Cometic gaskets and not just GM replacements. If the blower has not been rebuilt it needs it NOW!!! Mine seized-up @ 205hrs...if you dont get it done it will cost you. The blower shop can do it or DMPE...which will be cheaper. Before you even take it out again check the oil in the blower.

Thanks for the info, just asking what went out in your blower to cause it to seize up? What can I expect to pay for service on it?
On the gaskets is that the issue with them weak oem gaskets?
Again thanks for the input

I have not tore the blower down to see what actually caused one rotor to hit the case. I would assume either a bearing went or something wore out of tollerance. I will be sending it to DMPE to get rebuilt as a spare. A general rebuild will be around $400???

The OEM gaskets are a weak link. When mine were replaced the originals were cooked between the cylinders. The later Merc replacements were actually cometic. At minimum you would want Felpros.

Take care,
JRider

I just talked to valley motor sports (they rebuilt the motor) she said they used felpro.
They will call back and give me all the service info on the boat.
Well then i need to get the blower in and at least start out knowing it has been delt with if it needs it or not. jrider what are you running in your cat?

Felpro is the same choice I made on my 575. With stock boost they will be just fine. If you crank the boost cometic is the better choice.

Look and see if all the vent tube are on the throttle body, I have seen them fall out and go through the blower. Had a friends fall in and hold the butter flys open when he was trying to shut it down. thank good for a tether
