I alway's liked Low Lock ( 4 wheel drive ) for pulling out or backing it up my hill. My 1/2 pulled fine. Just wasn't heavy duty enough in the brakes. You need 4 wheel disc . The 3/4 ton did not even sag when I put it on the hitch. Unlike the 1/2 ton.

2001 GMC 2500 Diesel is my primary and tows with no problem.
I have towed it with a 1500 z71 for 300 miles and it didn't miss a beat. I will say on a steep ramp pulling a wet boat out it struggled a tad but nothing to worry about. Just watch your oil more than normal along the way when towing long distances
F-150 should be fine. If towing the 29 and it has two motors I would watch my "recommended" towing capacity of the 150. Not saying it won't do the job but the insurance company might think different if you get into an accident.

I have a twin 29 and pull it with my 2011 F-150 FX4 (5.0). The towing capacity is fine, but I only pull it 4 or 5 miles to the ramp and back. I think 4X4 would is an absolute requirement. If I were going to pull it a long distance or frequently, I would go back to a Power Stroke F-250/350 or Duramax.
