Default Cabin Carpet questions

In the middle of getting new carpets made (cockpit & cabin) its get kind of confusion ordering this stuff, 16, 20, or 40oz ? I know the newer fountains likely have some pretty plush cabin carpet, (thats the look I'm after ) but I need to know what grade to order? I'm assuming 20oz is about mid grade & likely most popular,?? so I'm leaning towards 32 or 40, I will be ordering it from snapincarpet.com or http://www.corinthian-marine-carpet.com/

any thoughts on quantity? would a 8 x 20 roll do the cabin of a 42?

Great question. I am getting ready to re-do mine as well next year. This year I am getting some new cockpit carpet done and I am unsure if I want to get the 40 or a lesser plush version of carpet. I am probably going with the 40 for all but I have still not yet decided.

40oz is made for the cockpit. Huge ribbed rubber backing. Not a glue down type. I would get a sample first.

I ordered the Aquamat cockpit carpet for my cruiser from Corithian last fall, made from my template I sent them.

Went with the Premium 40oz.cut loop. Love it! The Aquaback really keeps it laying down flat. I made my template with just a 1/8" clearance all around the perimeter to keep it in place. I wouldn't consider anything lighter myself. 40oz sounds like it's overly thick, but it's not. Very comfortable.

BTW, I also bought the mats from Snap In with the Baja and Formula Logos engraved. Exact same carpeting and backing.

Not as dark grey as the pics show. The grey Baja mat is more accurate.

No doubt on the cockpit carpet, its the glue down in the cabin that's got me stumped, I'm going to get some samples & go from there
