I just picked up a 47 Lightning and I'm having a hard time getting it over 80 mph. Trip 500's with 28P bravo props. I've ran it full of gas, light on gas, boat runs the same. I'm turning it 5200 rpm's. Ive been hesitant to turn it higher. Any suggestions?

Should turn 5400 rpms & run low to mid 80s.

What year? My 2002 that we sold in August with 500 EFI's ran 86 GPS didn't need to trim it past 5 to get there.

86....hmmmm. Same props? I'm running with a good amount of fuel. If I run lighter on fuel maybe 2 mph's more but I can't imagine 5 more. The more I use the boat I'm convinced it's a solid 80-81 mph boat, that's it. I guess if I get the rev limiter raised I could rev them higher but I was told the boat ran mid 80's. BS
