Default Prop on 27 Fountain

So I just purchased a 2003 27' Fountain with a 496 Mag HO. The boat has a 28p Bravo prop on it. Had it out on Saturday and got the motor to about 4950 - 5000 RPM. Isn't it supposed to turn up to about 5200? Should I be using a different prop? If so, what are your recommendations? I figure someone on here will have gone through all of this....

The seller said this is the prop that came with the boat from the factory. It has not been labbed or anything.

Thanks in advance!

Looking forward to seeing your boat on the lake. What's the color scheme? Any pics?

Well... the GPS receiver has a dead battery (so no functioning speedo). I need to order the 12v kit for it.

I used a Speedo app on my phone (works off of GPS), but it seemed a bit choppy, so I'm not 100% sure it's accurate, but the highest I got was 69 (I was having a hard time holding my phone & didn't have where to set it down). I know we were over 65 b/c my buddy was in his Formula next to us up to that speed.

Here's a pic from the seller. Just got the boat home late Friday and took it out Saturday (after 4 1/2 hours of cleaning, etc.), so I haven't taken pics yet.

I have a Mirage 28p 4 blade prop, I've had mine up to 72 with a phone app, and the water speedo said 75. That was with 2 adults and 1/4 tank of gas. I'm right at 5,100 to 5,200 also

nice pic. I have the same Road Runner trailer also.

Yeah... seller said 72 GPS verified was possible. We were 2 adults and about 3/4 tank of fuel, so maybe on a 1/4 tank we could hit 72?

To hijack my own thread - trailer has lots of surface rust on the corners... You have that problem? Seems like the paint is really thin....

yes 72 is possible. The boat runs faster in a slight chop vs glass smooth water

Yes trailer is crappy all around. . .

no primer or prep paint. I have some surface rust that I've knocked down neutralized and recoated in primer.
The brakes no longer work on mine either . I'll replace them with a stainless setup next.
Mounts for the side markers are toast. I'll replace all the lights with some LEDs
Front mount for the winch has been better

. . . it's all on the list of crap to get done

Good looking boat, wish mine had the low-pro windshield.

We left with a Formula 271 Fastech? Red, white & black. Cruised up to Gnarly Gar to eat.

Don't recall seeing a Baja...
