Default Thinking of purchasing a 1994 fountain fever 27...opinions?

I want to purchase a fountain fever 27. I just looked at a 1994 fountain fever 27' which is absolutely pristine. Original owner who went to the factory and ordered the boat. He knew someone and was able to order the boat with the 525sc motor which was not available in the 27. He was also able to get it with a 1.36 drive which was also not available. The owner has the original test sheet with reggie as the driver. The boat ran 78.5 mph at 5150rpms. Like I said the boat is pristine and only has 199hrs. The owner is asking $35k-. Is this a good boat and a good price? I wanted a stepped 27 but I don't know of any 27s with this motor from the factory and don't know any 27s doing 78.5mph from the factory. Owner believes may be only 27 fountain that has this motor from the factory.

$35k????? Not a chance. At the end of the day it's still a '94 model boat. If you do look at it, make sure you sound all stringers/transom and peak under the berth for rot as well.

I agree that $35k sounds a little high but I think it depends on what else the boat has. Is it completely original with outdated graphics/colors? Does it have a brand new trailer or a 20 year old rusty junky trailer? Does it have new gauges, K-Planes, Full Hydro Steering, etc? I think that would help determine the price better. It sounds like it was a real cool boat when it left the factory but for me personally an original 525sc in 2014 is still a cool engine but not something I'd pay a premium for....just my 2 cents

I'd suggest looking at a 502MPI 27' Fountain. You can get newer / cleaner for same money or less. Like was previously stated, you'd still have a 1994 Fever, that is probably worth low 20's at best (to a buyer).

Yes, it's unique - and probably way fun to drive! but...

All original graphics and interior and it is mint! Like no one used boat... Kept in a boat house on lift and in barn in winter... Full hydraulic Latham steering... I'll post link... Original graphics which are like were put on yesterday. Trailer original but aluminum and always kept in barn so like new

Yep, based on those pictures it looks like an extremely clean time capsule of a boat....looks like it just came out of the factory in 1994 and with a Myco trailer too. If everything checks out I don't think the price is too off but I still think it's high. I guess it depends on how badly you want it; I certainly haven't seen many other old original boats out there that clean but at the end of the day when you go to sell it it's still a 1994 so keep that in mind. Like what was said above most people would want the newer styling, EFI, and step hulls for a similar price. Also.....I'm no Fountain expert but that speed seems a little high, I thought I remember reading that the step hulls with a 502 MAG were barely cracking 70 so I wouldn't think a straight bottom with not that much more HP would be 8mph more but who knows

Wow that's super clean but, seems a bit high. I purchased a 1986 12 meter that was almost as clean for $27,000 4 years ago. My bought was rack stored from day one and has original interior also (mint). Like I said that boat is in extremely good shape but you can get a lot more boat for $35. It's all in what you want though, and how/where you boat. Good luck buddy!

Boat looks as new, But have to agree with other posters that price seems high, I would say 25-27 would be top, At current price you could step up to fuel injection, step bottom, as good or better performance
and better fuel economy with a newer boat, But the boat is pristine and if you like the style and setup your the guy you want to be happy, Try and work with him on the price, But whatever happens good luck with your purchase.
