Hi Guys,
New to the site, so first post and looking for advice of any kinds on the fountain 29. I am not new to boating but it has been some time since I have had anything bigger than an 18 footer, Most of my boating is in lake Michigan and putting up and down the river. I am really drawn to the fountain 29 for several reason, I like the single motor aspect and it seems perfect size to go out and raise some hell for the day without needing 3 jobs to pay for fuel. I have gotten a lot of free advice and most is all bad on the fountain 29, mostly from dealers selling something else, so any advice out there on pros and cons of this model? Would really like to hear from guys that own or have owned this model, Thanks in advance and obviously I am looking for one, so if you know of a good one, I am in. Again, bring on the bad as well as the good on this model

Most of the single '29s have 525 Blue motors in them. The exhaust headers need to be pressure tested regularly and the top ends refreshed at about 300hrs. IMO single engine boats have a lot going for them. Less maintenance and easier to work on. A great boat.

Actually, I've pretty much got it narrowed down to that being my next boat. Like the single engine (if it breaks down, towing insurance is cheap), easier to work on and just sold a boat with twins and I'm getting to old to squeeze myself into those engine compartments. Biggest problem I've seen so far is the asking price, ie, they are priced so far over book that it's hard to get the amount of the price financed, even though I qualify for a big loan.

Not a Fountain but I had a Velocity 280 for many years and now have a Velocity VR 1 290. Never missed or felt bad about them being single engine. IMO, better balanced , easier to drive and easier and cheaper to work on. Oh, 29 Fountains are almost as fast as the same size Velocity. ![Evil](/forums/images/smilies/evilB.gif)

I have 2 good friends w/2006 / 29 Fever, both have 525 EFI, both run good , top out 75-77 depending on props , load, etc.
With a single they sit nicer in the water,,not so low in the rear, ride good, single engine is easy to work around, etc., both guys really like them.

Same here - friend of mine had a 29 / 525. He had a lot of fun with that boat. I had a 27 / 502 at one time - the 29 is a lot more boat (as well as bigger in cockpit and cabin).

Also check out Superboat, Kryptonite, Activator or Warlock. All real 29 to 30 footers, not as plush as the Fountain but faster and more capable in rougher water if you require that.

I always thought that my twin engine was easier to drive than any of my singles.
The Fountain will be faster in flat to 2 footers but the Deep V boat will be faster in rough water.

Why will other 24 degree hulls be faster than a 24 degree fountain hull? Fountains run great in rough water. Anyone who claims different doesn't have any experience on one.
