42 executioner prop slip
Hello Fountain experts. New to me is a 2006 42 Executioner with 525's and bravo XR's standard lowers (not sport masters) with 32 pitch bravo 4 blade none labbed props. Love the way boat rides and handles but feel its down on speed compared to a lot posts I have seen on this forum. When I sea trialed boat boat ran 78 mph at 5200rpm and I figured that was ok because we where full of fuel and 4 adults on A hot day and really was not trying for every last MPH out of boat. This past weekend I ran boat down on fuel to 1/2 main tanks rear tanks where empty and on dead calm sticky water 3 adults could only pull 76 mph at 5300 trimming it positive past neutral to gain the last mph. Thats 29% prop slip! I did mark my indicators at neutral at 3 1/2 and could run 74ish at neutral at 5100 and trim to 5 1/2 to get extra 2 mph and 2 hundred RPM. The motors are pulling the RPMs but slip is really bad. Any ideas on better set up? I was told by a lot other 42 owners that they are running low to mid 80s with this set up.

You think sport masters make that much difference? Very hard to believe. Most executioners I see have standard bravo bottoms. Not sure why.

Well I measured props and are cut down to 15". Hard to believe 1/4 inch makes that much difference but I will be looking for different props to try. Who knows what else have been done to props. Must be my problem I hope. Thank you bblythe

I have heard in the past from a from a friend that had several 42's that the boat will run a better number with the rear tanks full, I believe his thought was it carried the bow better.
Every hull is somewhat different and even stock props can be all over the map. Try to run several sets if you can. You can figure your slip on the Bam website with their speed calculator, and there is also the good old mathematical formula. Point of reference here, not apples to apples, my 35 will run 91-92 @ 5400 with stock 32 Bravo 4blds. Likes to run with full tanks, and lite on fuel will seldom add to the number on any given day.
