Default 38 Tournament f/s (Opinions requested)

I am stuck back on Oahu for another three years and left my Sunsation stored at LOTO vs shipping it over as I did my last assignment to Hawaii.

Of course, I have the boat bug again and found this 2007 38 Tournament w/ trip 275 Verados on a Myco. The boat is on the Big Island and Covid travel restrictions are preventing me from hopping over to take a look. Does anyone have an opinion on this boat based on your knowledge or the ad (all boat listings in Hawaii suck in terms of photos and description)? What about the price? Is it comparable with others for sale? Overall opinions about this boat? Thank you....

0 opinion on the boat, but is the guy in the picture the owner of the salt life brand? If so it explains why the boat is for sale so cheap.

Good price. That’s cheaper than it would be in FL.

I’ve never ridden on one but I like them. They are a lot bigger than my boat, more freeboard, wider, longer. Worse seating though if cruising with a crew is your thing.

They are hot rods too. Easily the fastest of the early era big CCs.

One downside is the old verados. I’m assuming they’ve got hours since it didn’t list them.

It won’t run 75 (like the ad says) but could run 70. My 34’ ran mid to high 60’s with the same power and surprisingly, the 38’s are a touch faster. My boat handled the choppy waters where I live very nicely. Never felt unstable, nothing rattled or fell apart and I never got beaten up. The 38’ can only be better.

My only concern would be that after owning a Fountain with outboards, you may see your Sunsation differently afterwards.

Good luck mate,
Regards, Jon.

Damn now I want one

The claimed fastest CC back in the day was the quad 300x or xs boat.

I do like the price of this boat. The seating won't bother me as I usually only have one or two crew on board at any given time.

The engines are a concern, especially with the fact the boat appears to have been a charter. I can imagine lots of hours.

When the inter-island restrictions lift and if the boat is still for sale, I may hop over to Big and take a look.
