JCE,

What is the max rpms you can spin?? Also are you sure you are cranking out 435hp? Also how much extra stuff do you have on board? With 400+ hp you should be at 5050 rpms with a 24 Hydro, and that will put you at 70mph.

Both of my Fountains have been stepped bottom, but on a 27 it shouldn't make that much difference.

I have a 4 blade Hydro LH22 that I can spin at about 4900 - 5000 rpms. Speedo says 63-64. As for the motor, it is 502/435 hp, but that is at the crank and not the prop. not sure really how much hp I have.

Default 29 ft with 575 SCi

I just read your thread from a few weeks ago --- I own a 2001 29ft with a single 575SCi ---- I don't recall reading about any with that combination --- I have the full windshield as well and would recommend that to everyone - Fountain makes it a perfect height too so you can sit down and actually see thru it when your driving (unlike most) - it extends your boating season at least one month at each end -- staying out of that cold air makes for a much longer and more enjoyable season

performance is great -- I have had mine to 83 mph on GPS in cold dense fresh water, with a slight tail wind and 3" chop -- uses a 30" Bravo1 prop on an XR drive

my only complaint is that it is a dog out of the hole --- at least to me it is -- i have owned only blower motors, but of my own building --- must be a mild bottom end cam or something to prevent high torque at lower rpms - maybe to save the drive --- I was very very surprized on how it did not pop right out of the water. Other than that, it is a beauty - single engine, easy maintenance, less complex therefore less cost AND EFI on top of all that -- more fun per gallon

Chambers
Lets say you were to race (from a stand still)oh lets say a 29 Baja and just for the sake of this example you got crushed by 15 or 20 boat lengths. Lets further say the Baja was powered by some little old STOCK 496 Mags (hypathetically ofcourse). Lets further say that the driver was a sweaty pizza flipper. Would you be able to sleep at night? Nightmares of Baja's setting the next V-Hull Record (I'm stretching here) Perhaps you might scrap the boat and use the motor in a COOLER? Just bustin' your a$$. Pres.
P.s. You may want to try some of the Reggie Pj's. I heaed the were light weight. Might get you out of the hole faster.

hey Pizza flippin BAJA man --- you are correct !!!!! that would be my worst nightmare getting pulled by that warwagon of yours - even if it is for only 100 feet before overtaking you --- so --- after reading your terrifying tale I went ahead and put that slightly smaller (1.3740312" delta) pulley on my boat - and all of a sudden it is leaping out of the hole!!! No more mister nice guy!!!

Delta Shmelta
It's goin to take more than that. They way I figured it, I will be able to stay in front of for atleast 126.2 feet, Before you get "Leap Frog" rollin' . So If I'm correct with all my figures, I will have to shut down at the 67.3 ft mark so I will have enough time to come to a complete stop which would result in a victory for Team Blue Fin. At which point I will be able to tell everybody that my Baja beat a Fountain. That is very special.

P.S. I really think that I've been flippin pie's to long. Maybe a peice of pepperoni got lodged in my cerebral cortex giving me a a rare form of Bajakixyourass.
