Default An Invitation to lunch in Everglades City, Sun Dec. 23/07

I have not been down to Everglades City for a long while now and plan on going down there for lunch tomorrow ( Sunday ). I have room on PREDATOR if anyone would like to join myself and Hans ( rockstrmkr ). If you want to bring your boat down, even better.
We will leave Marco at 11:30 am for the 30 minute ride to the Rod and Gun Club. After lunch I think we will swing by Keewaydin for awhile. Should finish up around 4 ish.
Just post here or call or PM me if you want to come along.
Bob

Ok, boat is full. Hans, Zach ( Danger Zone ) and Lucy Taylor, Aaron ( THUNDER-STRUCK ) as well as Aaron's dad. Sorry to those who called a bit too late. There will be another time I'm sure. Guess I'll need that second Nor Tech soon ! LOL

Bob, From the bridge onto Marco, what is the route to Everglades City? How long does it take to get there? Should I take someone with local knowledge the first time? Anything else I need to know about going there?

Thanks!!!

Craig. I would recommend going down there with someone the first time. Its simple enuff from Coon Key ( south of Goodland ) to where you come in off the Gulf ( about 14 miles ) at Indian Key ( Green 1 ) but then you go about 7 or 8 miles inland thru the Everglades to get there. It is marked but you really need to watch as much of the bottom is hard and not very forgiving.
In the New Year we will make an excursion down there for those that can make it. A very interesting destination.

Here a couple of pics of the Rod and Gun Club. Also did you know that they have gas for 13 cents a gal. at E City. Yep. Saw the pump myself. Gas 9c ; tax 4c Total 13 cents. Couldn't seem to find the attendant tho ! LOL

OK. Since we are talking about Everglades City here is something to think about. A great time is their annual Seafood Festival. This year it is on Feb 1 / 2 / 3. The absolute best way to get there is by water. The roads are jammed getting in and out of there that weekend.
Soon I will start a thread inviting ideas for runs in Feb / March / April and this could be considered.

Rats!!! I was so busy posting more Key West pix that I totally missed this thread. How the hell did that happen???

On second thought... I guess I shouldn't be a seat hog. But... now that I'm in Naples, I am available for crew duty ANYTIME.

Glad you guys had fun- 13c per gal is a bit before my time!
