Re: Comparison thoughts?
I know how you feel,, Fountain and Formual's don't do it for me either,, my wife had a formula when we met and I hated that boat,, we looked at a 271 at the NY boat show and I couldn't fit between the wheel and the seat,, my 6'2" next door neighbor couldn't get his knees between the dash and the passenger seat,, was a piss poor layout IMO.. I like the 272 Baja's,, I think they are a great bang for the buck boat..
We looked at some brand new 26 and 28 PQ's at Ducky's and we were not thrilled with their quality..
Anywho,, there was a 2000 288 w/ 454 mag with meteor graphics for 42,000 2 years ago, for sale in NY, had I not just bought the Baja I would have been all over that baby in a heart beat.. I'm sure there are some late 90's intimidators for sale in your range..

Call Sunsation they may know of one in your price range for sale. They are great people and will also keep a eye open for one that may come available.

Please let your "friend" know that he can't go wrong with the PQ that I think you're talking about! I know it is one of the cleanest and well taken care of boats I have ever seen!
BTW, have ya got a picture of the Formula your "friend" is looking at? May help with the comparison to see the important shots (the engines and the interior) of both boats.
Best of luck!

Re: Comparison thoughts?
between the 2 boats he has found.......... a friend has a '93 303 Formula, another friend a 2000 34' PQ, while both are nice boats, there is a difference. Formula will always be hard to beat and will hold more resale valu between the 2. The '93 is still as rock solid as day 1.
