Jimmy
Let me know when you're running down again. I may run with (behind) you.
I'm heading to St Pete this weekend and next.

Re: Cigs at 3 Rookers ( Palm Harbor, FL)
Hey Guys,
My first year boating in the Gulf, been looking for a sandbar that I can approach and chew my props. What's the best approach to 3 Rookers. BTW - what other decent bars are there to get close to. We were at Caledesi Isl. last weekend and that was pretty cool.
Thanx

Hey Shooter, Rookers changes alot with each storm we have, but the middle cove area is good, the south end is good and the north end is pretty deep . That's usually where you find the cruisers anchored. On the outside it is all pretty good except the outer south corner and the outer north corner. Just come in slow and keep an eye out. The water is usually crystal clear. I'll let you know when we are going out again, possibly Sunday??? Have a fish tournament to do on Sat. with a huge party afterwards so I might be "bed ridden" on Sunday. Dave

Re: Cigs at 3 Rookers ( Palm Harbor, FL)
I've finally taken possesion of my summer rental in Crystal River, I'll be keeping the boat there most of the time so I can get some more use out of it. Keep me in mind for any runs or get togethers out of there.
Question for zero patience: where do you launch your TG? I haven't seen very many good ramps in Crystal River.
Thanks,
Andy

I use the Fort Island Trail (44West) Boat ramp and never have any problems, except for to many people. What size boat do you need to launch?

Launching a 28 AT. I assume you are using the ramp at the end of Ft. Island Trail? I've heard good things about it, but haven't used it myself, since I was foolish enough to read about the public ramps there & that one was listed for small boats. Go figure....
I've been suffering using Pete's Pier & can't even begin to describe how much I HATE those facilites. Last time loading there cost me some gelcoat.
Thanks for the info!

Would you be trailering your boat while hear?
Hernando Beach, Bayport and Hudson are nice ramps to launch from. They are alot closer to the Gulf and save some gas running south. I kept my boat at Petes several years and am now burnt out on cruising Kings Bay.

I'll be doing a mix of keeping it in the water & trailering it from Ocala.
I haven't been there, but I hear good things about Hudson. One thing I do like about Kings bay is that my motors get flushed with pretty clean water coming back from the gulf. The downside is all the green crap that get's into & on everything in there.
I hope to get the boat there this weekend.
