Is there less danger of CO toxicity with a diesel unit? I know diesel is safer as it is less combustable..

What an unfortunate accident. I have always gotten diesel generators vs gas for this reason, so I have been told. Does anyone know if it was gas or diesel as to further educate us all, thanks. Jeff

I don't know about CO2 levels being lower, but the stink would generally be a good indicator of there being a problem.

My understanding is that due to higher combustion pressures/temps, diesels only put out about 10% CO compared to gas. But wow, do they stink!

There was a special on Extreme Evidence on the Court TV channel last night. This was happening all over the country, but the officials on Lake Powell finally figured out why. There was even an Olympic swimmer that drowned on Powell, so they knew he could swim. They said the CO poisoning was hard to detect in the autopsy

Excellent advise about getting a CO detector, and its even better using two that run on DIFFERENT power sources in case one looses power you're still protected.
