OLD RACE BOATS - Where are they now?

Re: OLD RACE BOATS - Where are they now?
What sort of information are you looking for? Pete, CougarM on this forum should be able to help since he built most of them.
I have the original brochures for the US1 33, 38, 41 and 46 so I may be able to help with specifications.

Also, I am curious how the Cougar monohull boats would do in pleasure boat form. I have found that many were constructed out of Kevlar/Carbon, and weight quite a bit more than other similar length offshore boats. For example, the Cougar 38 US-1 weighs 12,000 lbs, compared to the Cigarette 38 Top Gun's approximate 9,100 lbs. I would assume that the extra weight would make these boats very rugged and run well in rough seas.
Thank you,

The boat was restored by Cougar just before the race week and the new owner was a bit nervous about getting it out of the pits area so I was fortunate enough to be asked to drive it out of the marina.
BTW, I know Pete and Steve and the guys at Cougar pretty well since they used to look after our Reefer Racing boats and built our Pro Vee.
You can see our boats here. http://media.boatmad.com/gallery/v/r...s/reeferracing
I see you are from Long Island. I came from Oyster Bay before moving to England in 1987. Now it seems we are moving back. Re-locating to the Northern Neck in Virginia in about a month!

Starflite, I'm in Port Washington. Woulda been near neighbors.
That cougar is real nice. If my next boat ends up being a wave crusher, the cougar would be hi on the list.
