Anyone near Austin-Lake Travis area?
We recently took a trip down to Lake Travis to visit fellow oso member Mudball and had an absolute blast!!!
We really liked the area and are thinking of relocating there since I'm tired of Wisconsin winters....
We've been looking mostly at the Lago Vista area but I was wondering if there are any OSO members in the Lake Travis area with any other suggestions or maybe more info on Lago Vista?
Thanks,
Doug

Re: Anyone near Austin-Lake Travis area?
I just moved to Lake Travis from Calif last month and Lago Vista was tempting but it's still pretty remote. The nearest real grocery store is about 20 minutes away. In 5-10 years it'll probably be much more developed but prices will probably catch up to the rest of the lake too.
If you're "retiring" Lago Vista could work easily and it's definitely the best value in waterfront on Lake Travis. Be sure to do your homework on the floodplain and the lake's widely varying level.
Good luck!

Lago Vista is on the north side of the lake. Lakeway is on the south side of the lake. From Lago Vista to downtown Austin is a 90 minute drive. From Lakeway to downtown Austin is a 40 minute drive.
Lakeway is twice as expensive at Lago Vista. Anything on the south side will be double the price of anything on the north side.
If you are "serious" about buying in the Travis County area, send me a PM. I will give you the name and number of my realtor friend.
