50' Cougar, cool looking boat
50' Cougar Boss
There can't be very many of these over here. The paint could stand to be updated a little. I like the idea of the diesel/Arneson ombination.
Any of you Florida guys know this boat?

Re: 50' Cougar, cool looking boat
Hi Payton,
I've not seen that boat in the Fort Lauderdale area before. If it's at National liquidators/Jackson by I-95 I'll be happy to check it out for you if you're interested. Sure looks like a wave crusher and in your business, that biodiesel makes alot of sen$e I've grown to become a diesel fan since Sabrina and I got the Sea Ray. Just set the throttles at 1950 RPM and let her go, and go and go, not real fast mind you, at 26 knots life goes a bit slower, but we get there, for certain......
Take care Payton, hope to see you at the Miami show in 06.
Steve

Bio diesel does make a lot of cents. We use it in everything up here.
I'm not really intrested, it just looks like an intresting boat.
I'll look you up at the show this winter.
Take care

Re: 50' Cougar, cool looking boat
This is the last info I was told on these 50' a few years back.
Was the boat named Mr. Roberts,, if so then it is stretched 46 - 50 Cougar and it is a Boss Racing Team hull.....They were built by A.J. Roberts who won the 85 World Championships in Key West in cat....He was also partners with Dick Fulham who was killed in a Cougar cat that year...
As to the Boss/Cougar deal there was some bad blood between the US operation and the Curtis's in England over that deal.

Re: 50' Cougar, cool looking boat
Boss cougar was A.J. Roberts company that was located across the street from Ft. Apache. All he did was copy the original cougar from the UK, no relation between the companies though. If I'm not mistaken this boat was built by/for Berkley Breathed the cartonist, I remember the boating magazine articles about this boat. It was originally white with a dog painted on it.
I went and looked at the boat yesterday and was told that it wouldn't pass survey and that there was water damage to the boat (?). I understand though that an offer in the high $40's would buy it.
