24 & 7 Boats
What manufacturers made or still make boats that are 24' (or just shy of that) in length with a 7' beam? Was the first one built in the late '60s or early to mid '70s?? What years were they produced? What did they weigh with engines? What top speeds could be reached with what power? Who copied who? (hull designs) Please post pics and other info. (specifications)if possible. Any/all help would be greatly appreciated. I love these old school classic Miami-style offshore sport boats.
These 5 are my favorite:
Carrera SS7M
Pantera Sport 24
Excalibur 24
Scorpion 24SS
Superboat 24

24 jaws, 24 p&d, 24 twister, 24 aero, 24 brt, 24 banana, 24 cigarette, 24 spirit, 24 python, 24 sunsation, 24 condor, 25 protector, 26 martini/corsa and a few others I'm sure I missed. I'm not sure who was first though. Probably most are taken off a cigarette.

It all started with a 25 Magnum, the Magnum 25 and the 27 sport are without a doubt the most copied hulls in offshore. Factories would start with this design and change the decks, freeboard hights, add pads and things like that, but when you get to the root of most designs, it will take you back to these two boats.

Re: 24 & 7 Boats
I have a '98 24 Superboat. They are still being made and have been in production for around 30 years. I like the fact that the lines have not changed much on these boats. They still have the old school look. My weighs around 3600 lbs. I think the Pantera is 3-400 lbs heavier. I have a 496HO and can hit 75 any day.
I'm not sure but I think the Banana was based on the 24 Cig and they both have 8', not 7' beams.

Re: 24 & 7 Boats
THANKS for the replies guys...any more?? These old pics are great!! There is a 1996 24' Superboat in the classifieds here. I don't think it has the step hull...so it must be one of the last ones without. I read on the Superboat site that the 24 was redesigned in 1996 with the step hull. Could you order both the step and non stepped hulls that year or was the step bottom boat introduced mid/late year as a 1997 model? Just wondering...could you order a new Superboat 24 with the old deck/dash/cockpit??
Does anyone here know anything about a Bad Boy Powerboats custom Superboat 24 from the South Jersey/Woodbury area?? It's a P class pleasure/race boat. I saw it in the Big Timber Creek about 1 month ago. BAD boat!!

I have a 24 Python of my own that is an 89 and have a friends in my shop I am selling for him that is a 98. Both of the ones here are solid well built boats. The 98 is definately better built than mine was and have noticed several lamination revisions over the years. The only real differences in many of the 24's are dash configurations and interiors.

The Banana 24 was made from the molds bought from Cigarette for their 24 foot boat....therefore, both boats have the same beam, which is 8 foot, not 7.
