Re: How Many Boaters Are Paying Highway Use Tax On There Gas
Does anyone have any good ideas on what we can do in Mi. to change this?
She did say if it was a commercial boat I could file for a refund, does anyone want to go for a ride out on Lake Michigan and watch the sunset? Only $1.00

When a truck pulls into a truck stop and requests refer fuel (refridgerated trailer) they will automatically deduct those taxes. Can't see why the stations would'nt do it. Too much bother I guess.
If anyone lives close by a T/A or Petro, may be worth it to stop and ask the fuel desk.

In Jersey they have "off road diesel" that is not taxed for highway use. Its also dyed red like home heating oil so if they catch you with it in a highway vehicle they fine you. The guy at the fuel stop that sells it said they dont do it for gas because most "off road" equipment or machines run on diesel. Hey, when it cost 10 dollars to cut your grass I think it time to think about having different pumps for off road use.

A long time back our marina had a gas pump that was located on land, they got rid of it because they didn't want to pay the road tax... Well, we never saw a difference in price!
