Looking for a litte help....
I'm trying to get some help or input on a campaign with the U.S. Coast Guard in Key West for the Worlds...
We will be having some Coast Guard Auxiliary and some Power Squadron personal in Key West to do Vessel Safety Checks as part of the U.S. Coast Guards "You're In Command" Boat Responsibly National Campaign...
In the last 11 months working with the personal at C.G. Headquarters in D.C. we have discussed new ways to get boaters involved with some basic safety tips on preventing fatalities while boating...and having a Vessel Safety Check was one of the ways the Coast Guard feels would be a great help....
Would any boaters that will be in Key West during the Worlds be interested in having a VSC done while docked...it is FREE and only takes about 10 minutes or so...
THEY ARE NOT THERE TO HARASS YOU...OR WRITE YOU TICKETS...
Its just having them make sure you have the proper equipment on board that one day may save yours or someone else's life....
There will be media there to promote the event....
Even though a large number of accidents reported by the Coast Guard are in smaller boats we feel by putting out to the public, even boaters with the $250,000 + boats take the time to have a V.S.C. it would set a great example to all boaters to have this done....
I know there will be well over 150 boats heading to the Worlds so any input would be greatly appreciated on from were to have them to days and times....
Thank you in advance..

We are going to do that after we do the V.S.C.

Why not contact Stu at FPC and see if he can announce it to the poker run boats? They will have a huge fleet there and he has contact with all of them. It might help the FPC with a little free "safety publicity".
