I would have to agree with Rob. Richie's Blown Efi in his boat is simply put awsome. It idles great, shifts in and out of gear flawlessly. And runs very strong in that Superboat!!!!
I guess after a month on the dyno last winter he got the fuel map perfect. I would not expect anything less from him on the new piece he is working on....

What is the restriction w/ an EFI set-up. When I rebuilt my old 500 it was like pulling teeth to make them work with the EFI system and not junk it. I truly believed they just didnt know how to tune it and thats why they wanted to toss it.
Richie builds some beautiful motors, just another example.
Nice.......Richie.

Nice to see the marine motor industry stepping into the 90's.
I have a pic somewhere of our 437" chevy with twin throttle bodies getting ready for the '98 drag racing season! It made 1100hp at 9500 rpm.
The initial fuel mapping learning curve on these things is VERY time consuming. We had 58 dyno pulls just to get back to the SAME hp we had before with carbs. EFI does absolutely NOTHING for peak HP, rather the performance gains come from ACCELERATING much faster and cleaner and a MUCH flatter TORQUE curve.
For us with boats, the TORQUE gain is wirth the switch in itself. The same motor with a properly tuned efi set up will idle cleanly, start instantly, adjust for atmospheric conditions (depending on program and parameters), and get you from a standing start to point "B" in much less time.
In our case, we had 5 LESS horsepower than carbs, but ran a full one TENTH of a second quicker than we ever had before. The e.t. was 7.36 seconds, then also a tenth quicker than the national record.
EFI work, just don't expect big dyno numbers.
After all, when was the last time you went to the "dyno races"???

[QUOTE=SummerObsession]Nice to see the marine motor industry stepping into the 90's.
Richie told me that the EFI on his boat was something he had laying around from some motors he did 15 years ago. He said back then there was not much demand and nobody really wanted to try it or could pay for it .There's a boat in Europe he said he did 15 years ago with Blown EFI that's still running
Richie is sending me the pictures of his own motor in the SuperBoat and some info on the EFI system on it . It has some pretty trick stuff on it .
