Tony
I just thought of something I heard last year. I don't know any of the details and or if it is true. I heard that if a boat is being transported from place of use to place of storage, you don't even need a registered plate..
If this is the case.........you were transporting your vessel to storage for the winter....
Then again.........I don't remember where I heard this or from whom....
good luck.

I like the advice to take the info to the prosecutor. They can't prove intent on the ficticious charge if you paid your registration and have a sticker.
(Why would you fake a plate if you have a valid registration.)
Especially of both plates were yours. (Switch could have happened without intent to display ficticious tags.)
I would go cop to being an idiot who mixed up his own plates.... but deny any attempt to knowingly run with a fraudulent plate. The valid registration on the trailer you were towing blows any reasonable doubt that you might have switched plates to avoid registering the vehicle.
You will be the only guy in court for an expired registration who held a valid registration at the time of the stop.

Re: legal advise needed (boating related)
As I posted earlier I tried to talk to the prosecutor, and they simply refused until after the initial hearing. However RaceGirl's friend is hopefully going to resolve this whole thing without me even goint to court
nothin better than a lawyer who is friends with the judge and prosecutor
Looks like this may cost me a bottle of Jack or another boat ride.

If you think running plates is bad now just wait. The government will finally catch on and start using RFID tags for vehicle registration and driver's licenses. The same thing Walmart is insisting all their vendors use. Radio Frequency Identification.
The cruiser can sit alongside the road and his computer will scan and check your tags and driver's license automatically as you drive by at 65MPH. That is right, AUTOMATICALLY!
Violations will list on his screen and the lights and sirens will move into action. If you left your license at home, that is an automatic stop. If you have someone in the car with a violation or expired license you will be stopped. If you have an outstanding warrant, well, you get the idea at this point.
