???'s about I-10 from Louisanna to FL
I'm going to be leaving in a little over a week to pick up my new-to-me boat, and am a little concerned about travel after all the hurricane damage. I am leaving Dallas, and mapquest has me traveling through Louisianna on I-10 all the way to Fl. Is this a safe route to go or should I try to find another way. Thanks for the help.

I just went thru Sheveport to Jackson MS, down route 49 etc..... route 49 it the WORST road in the country.... they are re-doing it or some chit.... constant bouncing..... rest of the roads were fine....
PM Strip Poker... he lives out that way and knows the current deal....

PS... it took me about 12 hours to get to Jacksonville empty.... about 7 hours to get thru TX, LA and MS to I-10.... My trailer tongue weight was WAY light on the way back but I wouldnt come back that way... I am sure Strip will jump in.....

ain't gonna happen , the twin span over lake ponchartrain was wiped. they got 1 side reopened to 2 way traffic. big nightmare. if you have to come through la take the i-12 out of baton rouge , btw , traffic through baton rouge is real tough also ..... major congestion....

From Dallas you are fine. Take 49 south from Shreveport in La to I-10. You will hit the I-10/I-12 split in Baton Rough and take 12. It runs back in to I-10 and will tkae you to Florida.

Make sure you don't hit the Pensacola Bridge during rush hour traffic. It's still down to one lane from last season. It will take about an hour any time of day to get across it but if you hit it between 4 and 6 PM it will take more like 3.

You could also go I-20 to Jackson MS, then South I-55 to I-12 East. While the distance may be a little more, you'll miss Baton Rouge. Traffic in Baton Rouge is always bad because you have Government hours and Refinery hours, but now it's even worse. The last time I was there it took 1-1/2 hrs to get from the I-10/I-12 interchange to over the Mississippi River bridge headed west to Port Allen.

Thanks again guys. I am thinking about taking I-55 out of Jackson to I-12. Probably go that way after Mashers encouraging words about I-49
