What to do to get saltwater ready?
Hello all, dont know if this is the place for a newbie question or not...but here goes....If you only boat in freshwater, what needs to be done to go to the ocean, and what needs to happen afterwards? Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Also anyone else crazy enough to take a 24 foot boat out in the ocean? Thanks!

#1 Put the drain plug in
#2 When done, take the drain plug out
#3 Flush engine at idle for at least 10 minutes while washing boat with mild soap

Zincs on your tabs and outdrive
VHF Radio
Single Engine?
More tools than you think you'll need
Credit Card (for SEA TOW)
Flares
Aluminum Trailer
As far as taking a 24 in the ocean goes, let the weather, not the calendar dictate your schedule and you'll be fine. I used to run a 22 in the Pacific.

....and every so often run SALT AWAY through the system when you flush the motor and drive. They make a hose ready attachment that makes it easy to do.
