I looked at it for a friend earlier this year and it was trashed. I was told it has been for sale since 1998/99. Exposed non sealed wood in the engine compartment and cuddy. Everything was soaking wet and mildewed. The engine compartment looks like it was cut with a sawzall where there was interference with rigging. Couldn't get a straight answer on engine history. I was originally told it was their boat and then given the name of Anderson Sales or something like that when asking questions, but didn't call them after seeing it in person.

How many hours on the KV. Something sounds fishy to me, UNLESS the owner of the KV needs to get out of it like last year. For acomparison there is a 87 KV here in the Detroit area that has 540 and #4 SSM on it for $69,000.00. There was onother on that sold on EBAY that had blower motors in it for around $46,000.00. Make sure you have a suvey done on either boat before purchase. Have you seen the KV in person?

[QUOTE=Charlie Glide]
The second one is a 1985 38' Scarab KV powered by twin 850 Sterling engines and #3A drives. This guy wants $30,000 firm.
Gee, If that thing will keep water out, you should buy it just for the parts.
I've got an '81 with new 540's, trannies and rebuilt TRS's for 25K (sure GlassDave say's he's going to buy it, but money talks, and he's hanging off the side of a glacier for the next couple of weeks....soooo

That gulfstream does look a little rough. I'd have the boats surveyed, mechanically checked and take them out for a seatrial.
For the money, if all is good, I would definately go with the Scarab. But thats my choice. But its operating costs will be higher.
