If the GPS says 85mph, how fast am I going?

If I'm on my boat, on the river going down-stream with a 4mph current, how fast am I going if the GPS says 85mph?

Depends if you are going east,west, north or south. Remember, the earth rotates and that needs to be figured in.

Well Reggie won most of world speed records with one of those gps units your talking about, it said 161 mph but the jet ski passing him said 54 so I CANT FIGURE
