I truly feel that boxes 'SHOULD' give a cat more speed
However I am looking more for cener of gravity change to gain a more comfortable flater ride.
I seem to ride ass heavy now and would like to get the transom out of the water

Maybe some Hydromotives or some 5 blades.

Re: Do Extension Boxes make a boat feel longer?
how expensive?
Imco has the boxes for less then 2 grand each
What else would be needed?
I have tried props, Hydros at that
Gained almost 7mph on the long stretch top end
Gained over 5 at cruise also. Less r's /or more mph depends on how you look at it.
this spring I will be having hte Hydro's done slightly by Julie to see what more I can get.
Only thing I did not like about the Hydros is that i almost start to dig the bow in now since they raise the transom out. But i can tell a great difference in ride qlty versus the bravos.

You need hydraulic steering. If you already have hydraulic steering, you'll need to adapt the system to the boxes. Hopefully you won't have to fill any transom holes.
The wing plates that IMCO uses make a lot of sense with the Stellings box. By putting the wings off the box, the steering alignment doesnt change as the box is slid up and down. If the steering isn't exactly centered on the gimble, the steering will bind when trailered resulting in a bent wing plate. I've seen wing plate built out of 1/2" stainless bent like a pretzel from a misalignment.

I have the 27 daytona with the its which is set back 7 inches and I have a hard time planing. I have the stock xz drive. I have been told that I need to try a 2 inch shortie.

I forgot to add... If you have a garage and your boat barely fits now, wait till the first time you back it in with the boxes!!! Then it feels longer.
