[QUOTE=Harper220]Is your prop blowing out or losing bite to where you have to play the throttle to roll the boat on to plane? Or does it just seem to take a long time? The reason I ask is that I had difficulty planing my 28 Daytona with twins until I went to 5 blade props (Hydro P5X's). They instantly took care of the problem, so you may want to consider your prop selection before raising your X dimension. I can only imagine that a shortie would make your situation worse. Another thing about the P5X's, I gained about 4 mph at 3500 rpm and the boat handled much better. [/QUOTE the problem is that i have 1.36 gears. 525efi for power. I am using a labbed 24 or bravo labbed 26. I cannot get the prop to blow out. it bites and will not let the engine make any power. I was told to change gears to 1.50 or try a 2 inch shortie.

The Imco boxes use a torsional drive shaft and a stock Merc rubber coupler. The Stelling box uses a solid driveshaft bolted to the flywheel. Imo the Imco is better because it absorbs more driveline shock. I think it's one reason the drives on my Black Thunder have been living with the hard life I've been giving them.
