Re: Boating in Iowa
T's right, nothing "outstanding",
but, we manage to have a little
fun here.
Waterloo,
your best bet is the Mississippi
at Dubuque.
We go there a couple times
a year for dealer events.

Re: Boating in Iowa
Weird but Blackhawk county which Waterloo resides in, has the most boat registrations of any county in the state.
We live close to Waterloo and tow our 288 every weekend over to the Mississippi, but up in the Northeast corner. Mcgregor Ia/Prarie Du Chein Ws area. Like 95 miles over but it's a great area of the river. We prefer it over the Dubuque area. Seems half the county is up there on weekends and most have summer homes, etc there.
If you decide on the move and have kids, find a better school district then the Waterloo school district. Cedar Falls is good or any of the surrounding communities..

I went to UNI in cedar falls/waterloo and it wouldn't be an ideal location for boating period. It's a good 7+ hour drive from Waterloo to LOTO. Southern Iowa would be much closer to LOTO.

There is a poker run a few miles south of us in July or Aug if your interested in something like that, called Liquid Jungle. Lots of places for gas, refreshments, etc The Mississippi can handle large boats easily. Ours is only a small 23 ft boat and at times to small. Lake City is less then 3 hrs from Waterloo and highway 63 is a nice road for a easy tow. If your coming here from the coast you are going to be dissapointed, but its the best we have to offer. If I can answer any more questions just holler.
