Put In Bay, a great boating destination
has just got better. From my home on Lake Erie I can see the famous land mark monument that towers over the modest island of Put In Bay or otherwise known as South Bass Island in the western basin of Lake Erie. For you not familair with this Island, it is the home of the longest bar in the world @ 412 ft. I have probably sat on every seat at one time or another.
Now the tiny popular drinking island filled with men chasing women and women chasing men is getting the notariety of another Guiness record:
World's largest swim up bar going in at P-I-B
Construction has begun on the world's largest swim up bar between The Islander Inn & Grand Islander Hotel at Put-in-Bay.
The complex, called SPLASH!, will have more than 110 seats in the water, encompass over 9,000 square feet and will feature a second floor entertainment deck. The deck is surrounded by the pool below and is visible to everyone in the water.
Construction is being done by Janotta & Herner of Monroeville, with the complex slated to open May 25 of this year.

Was there three years or so ago. We coupled it with the Sunsation rally for a summer vaca. We were there for the Wed/Thursday before Christmas in July weekend. And it was crazy busy then! Can't imagine the weekend parties that go on!!
I will return, short run acros the lake from Ontario.
