I had one on my 2000 38 lightning,it came stock with the boat, I could run 80+ with no problems. you still need sun screen because it didnt cover the front of cockpit real good ,go look at fountain web site to see it.only thing I didnt like the way it looked. I have one on my new boat I think looks good and covers very well.

Buddy of mine has a 38 Sonic with a custom made top. It is a full cabin enclosure that unzips to a bimini top or can be taken down completly. The bimini great for hot summer days. Goes up in 15 minutes which is real nice in those surprise summer rain showers or a late fall cruise home from dinner.

Living here in Florida, with the Manatee Zones, we have to find some way to get out of the sun. Just about everyone in this area uses a Bimini. We have had good luck with them so far and run all day at about 40 MPH. When you want to run faster, it only takes a munute to drop and stow.

Thanks
Dail

Do you have any pictures with the top up? How does it stow? Under the engine cover or does it sit on top?

My Formula F-206 has a Bimini. I keep it stowed while under way. I wear a hat and shirt during those times. Once anchored the top goes up and everything is cool. The Bimini lays on top of the sun pad when not in use. At the end of the day the top gets removed and stored in the garage since the boat cover will not fit over it.
Skin cancer is nothing to fool with. I'm in the early stage of it now.

Ive got the anchor shade. they work great.

If you get one, take the little plastic top piece off and super glue it on. Everybody i hang out with, when the wind picks up, that little plastic thing pops right off. I caught mine before it floated away.

I have a 1989 Fountain with a Bimini made to fit my boat from a formula. I originally didn't like the look of it. But now it is something I will have on any boat I own. It provides much more shade than anchor shade, there is no pole in the middle of the cockpit to walk around, it came with a full enclosure to get out of weather. It can be up while cruising but I wouldn't leave it up. It does give the boat a funny kite feel. The Bimini is the way to go. It is a great addition to our boat. Mine stores right up next to my radar arch. You can hardly tell its there.
